Chemical thinners are not recommended at this time.
Evaluation of chemical thinners is being done to
determine their adaptability to New Jersey. New Jersey
suffers frequent winter freeze and spring frost/freeze events

which make blossom thinning risky and less attractive.
Work is constantly being to arrive at a program for
chemical thinning which can reduce the high costs
associated with hand thinning. Until we can assure that
the resulting fruit set will result in a profitable crop with a
minimum risk, work will continue.
